Miniature Monday - The Keeper of the Eye, and Great Power
After last week's barrage of news, we're back to a simple, standard Miniature Monday. However, that doesn't mean there isn't something to be excited about! This week, we're taking a look at one of the most powerful, and mysterious, Aberrants from Trinity: Battleground, the enigmatic Keeper of the Eye.
Even among a host of strange and inhuman mutants, the Keeper of the Eye stands out. His name is mysterious enough but his appearance is truly unique, little more than a roughly humanoid collection of chitinous plates and tentacles. He was released as a metal figure in a blister pack with Luka and another Aberrant, and the trio were some of the hardest miniatures to track down as part of our resurrection project. Fortunately, we were able to acquire them for scanning, and soon they will be returning to tabletops through the magic of 3d printing. As far as game rules went, the Keeper of the Eye was a mighty Caste 4 Aberrant like Lucifer, and his point cost of 420 points made him the most expensive figure in the game besides the towering Naushka. There was a reason for this high point cost, and though his Psi Powers were limited they were powerful. Plasma Blast allowed him to damage enemies at range, and it was more accurate than an opponent might suspect as it used his Taint score of 9 to attack instead of his middling Ranged score of 2. At medium range his Energy Tentacles allowed him to drag enemies into melee, which is where the Keeper truly excelled. His Mutations were entirely focused on mauling his victims in close combat, with Bulging Muscles to improve his chance of hitting, while his Extra Arms dealt heavy damage and Armored Plates protected him from retaliation. These Mutations combined with his impressive base attributes to make him a deadly force, rolling a total of 9 dice on melee attack rolls, and an astounding 10 dice to soak incoming damage. Even if an opponent could survive long enough to get through his defenses, his staggering 14 health would take a long time to chip through. With the damage he was capable of inflicting, time was not something his enemies had.
The Keeper of the Eye was as enigmatic as he was deadly, and he is sure to make an impact once he is rereleased along with the rest of the line later this year. Tune in next week for another preview of our resurrection of Trinity: Battleground!
