Miniature Monday - Gresko is a Towering Presence
It's Miniature Monday once again, and it's been some time since we did a miniature reveal for Trinity: Battleground. This week we're showing off Gresko, a Psion clad in a towering suit of powered armour that makes him more than a match for any Aberrant.
Gresko was originally released as a pewter miniature. Unlike other Trinity miniatures which came in blister packs of two, three, or even five models, Gresko was packaged all by himself. With his sheer size, nothing else could fit in a blister with him except his base and stat card. He was a powerful Tier 4 Psion, tied with Dr. Sagar and Montrose for the most powerful Psion characters released. At a staggering 360 points, he was also the most expensive Psion character, and the second most expensive model in the entire game. Only the terrifying Naushka had a higher point cost. But what did you get for that point investment? Gresko had a number of useful Psi Powers that all supported his main game plan of closing with the enemy and cutting them down in melee. His Flight power let him cover ground quickly and ignore terrain that would slow other characters down, while his Force Barrier protected him as he approached and could make him immune to enemy attacks in close combat. He also had the rare Stun power, which dealt a single die of unavoidable damage to enemies who struck him with a close combat attack. His Psi score of eight tied with Cameron for highest among the Psions, and meant he could use his powers freely. Gresko's equipment was simple but brutally effective, including a larger version of the Vibrosword wielded by Lu Chen (though it did the same amount of damage) and a Light BioVARG Suit. This suit of powered Vacuum Assault and Reconnaissance Gear was the strongest protection available to any model in Trinity Battleground. Future expansions were planned to include full-size VARG suits, which ranged from five to 15 meters tall, but sadly those plans were never realized. Still, the light version Gresko wore was impressive enough with an Armor Rating of 6, even higher than Naushka's force field. Combined with his already high attributes, Gresko had a Soak of nine, making landing any damage on him a difficult proposition. As his enemies struggled to take him down, his 11 Action Points and astounding Close Combat score of seven meant we would be dealing huge amounts of damage. His skills also served to support his close combat game plan, with Melee to increase his accuracy, Fight Multiple Opponents to remove enemy bonuses from outnumbering him, and Parry to allow him to leave a rare losing melee without taking attacks of opportunity. Overall, Gresko was every bit the powerhouse his sky high point cost would indicate, and we can't wait to see what Psion players think of him when he re-releases with the rest of the line later this year.
