Miniature Monday - More Miniatures Rise

Welcome back to another exciting Miniature Monday! Like our post a few weeks ago, today's post takes a look at our ongoing series of test prints as we work to finalize the files for our resurrection of Trinity: Battleground.

We'll get started with a look at two Psions, Cameron and Haruhiko.

We also printed a Sentry Gun to give the pair some extra firepower.

And, since we can't have a battle without enemies to fight, we also tried a test print of the huge Aberrant, Gomorrah!

Although the familiar details of each miniature are clearly present, you may notice that they're softer than on our previous print. This is all part of our testing routine. All of our test prints so far have been done with a Bambu A1 printer using standard PLA filament, but the Caul Fein we previously showed was printed using a 0.2mm nozzle. This smaller nozzle allows for more detail than the standard 0.4mm nozzle, but takes longer to print and has a greater risk of jamming. These miniatures were printed on the same machine with the same material, but using the larger nozzle. Although the detail is softer, our goal here is to show what a person with little 3d printing experience could achieve in their own homes. Even with these basic settings, the output is impressive, and with a little clean-up would be acceptable as tabletop-ready by many gamers. Looking closely you can see fairly large areas of scarring where supports were removed. This is another issue of filament printing, and one we are hoping to minimize by improving the supports in our files. Optimizing files and settings for the best 3d printing result is a learning process, and we are happy to share our results with you as we continue to improve.

Next week, barring another catastrophic printer issue, we will be showcasing another set of test prints made with a smaller nozzle, higher-detail filament, and improved supports.
