Miniature Monday - An Aberrant Resurrected in a New Form
Hello everyone, and welcome to another Miniature Monday. This week's miniature reveal is a little different from our usual ones. If you're following us on social media, you may have already seen this exciting new development, but today we're taking the opportunity to show off a Trinity: Battlegrounds miniature in the flesh, or at least plastic. You may remember Caul Fein from our very first miniature reveal. Well, here he is in an all-new form.
Please pardon the fingers. The Aberrant on the left, in black, is the original metal miniature we used for scanning. His twin on the right is a copy of that same miniature, 3d printed in plastic filament. There is some loss of detail and some scarring left from removing supports, but overall we count this print as an astounding success. With some tweaks to the model and the support structure, we're confident we can get even better results. For those looking for some technical details, this miniature was printed in PLA on a Bambu A1 printer. Our excitement at this test print goes beyond just seeing our efforts come to fruition, though. When we first dreamed up this project, resin 3d printing was the only real option for small and highly detailed miniatures. Unfortunately, resin printing can be quite expensive and involves a lot of careful work with potentially hazardous chemicals. Because of this, a lot of people don't want to get involved with it. However, as technology has advanced, cheaper and safer plastic filament printers can now achieve the type of result we're showing off here. We're thrilled with these new developments, and will endeavour to support both types of printing as we move forward with this and future projects.
This exciting reveal begs the question, which miniature should we print next? Reach out to us on X and Facebook with your suggestions for your favourite Psion or Aberrant, and we'll show them off in plastic soon!
