Miniature Monday - Trogs Support their Aberrant Masters
We apologize for this week's Miniature Monday being a little late. Our preparations for the Cangames convention have caused some delays. Let's get right into it, with a reveal of the Trogs, mutant creatures engineered to support their Aberrant masters on the battlefield.
Trogs Support units bore a strong resemblance to Strike Team Dragon from last week. They were released as five identical metal miniatures in a blister pack, making up one Support Troop unit. They also had a similar hunched posture with fists at the ready. However, these mutant creatures were more dangerous and more expensive (in terms of points) than their human counterparts. They had nearly as good a Close Combat score as the Strike Team, but had only a basic melee attack. Instead, their main weapon was Matter Acceleration, which allowed them to telekinetically hurl pieces of material like a shotgun blast. This attack was short-ranged but dealt respectable damage, and its low AP cost meant Trogs could launch a flurry of shots once they got into range. Their Tough Skin provided them with less protection than their human counterpart's Field Suits, but their higher Stamina left them just as well defended. The biggest different between them and Strike Team Dragon was that Trogs actually possessed a Psi Power. Once they closed in on the enemy, they could unleash a Ground Strike and try to knock down all models within a wide radius, leaving them vulnerable and forcing them to spend APs to stand back up. While Strike Team Dragon was a simple and affordable combat unit, meant to close with the enemy and beat them to a pulp, Trogs gave Aberrant players more versatility at the cost of a fifty percent higher point cost. It will be up to players to decide if the trade-off is worth it when the game re-releases.
We're off to Cangames this weekend, where we will be running demos of Trinity: Battleground and handing out a pair of free miniatures to anyone who tries the game out! Next week's Miniature Monday will be an after-action report, with some photos of our demo table and thoughts on how our demoes went.
