Miniature Monday - Assault Squad Dragon Reports for Duty!
We're starting this Miniature Monday off by wishing everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo! While people are celebrating, we're going to tone things down a little. Last week we revealed one of the most powerful Aberrants in Trinity: Battleground, The Keeper of the Eye, but this week we're going to look at some more humble warriors. Not every soldier who fights for humanity against the Aberrant scourge is a mighty Psion. Many are ordinary men and women who are willing to take up arms and fight. An example of these are the members of Strike Team Dragon.
Strike Team Dragon was released as a blister pack containing five identical metal miniatures, altogether making up one Support Troop unit. As we've mentioned previously when we revealed the Krikquills and Support Squad Avenger, support troops functioned as a single model in some ways and a unit like those from other miniature games in others. They lacked Psi or Taint powers and were not customizable like individual characters, but offered flexibility and could control a large amount of table space for a relatively low point cost. Support Squad Dragon were a perfect example of this, with their point cost of 130 being one of the cheapest options a Psion player could add to their strike team. Unlike their counterparts in Support Squad Avenger, they were equipped entirely for melee, with a set of Fighting Gloves for beating their enemies into a pulp and a Field Suit to protect them from incoming attacks. The base damage of their weapons was weak, but their impressive Close Combat of 6 was among the highest of anyone on the Psion side. Combined with their Melee and Might skills, they were capable of dealing far more damage than a first glance would suggest, especially when their 9 Action Points allowed them to make multiple attacks. With their ability to spread out to control objectives and deceptive power in melee combat, Support Squad Dragon were a force Aberrant players had to respect, all for a rock-bottom point cost.
Stop by next week as we reveal another Support Troop unit, this time on the Aberrant's side.
