Miniature Monday - Even Bigger Rats!

Last week we shared the first renders of one of the Demon Blade Goth Rats we're bringing back as our next project. This week, we're showing off another one. This hulking mass of muscle and fur was originally released as Trophy, one of three Goth Rat Hulker models.

In Injurius Games, he is simply known as the Rat Mutie, and is the largest member of the Ratz squad. He carries a deadly Gatling Cannon which can lay down a punishing hail of lead, when it doesn't jam (sometimes catastrophically). Like before, these images show an initial scan, before cleanup work has been done.

You may notice something missing from the scan, namely that big cannon we just mentioned. That's because, wherever possible, we scan multi-part models in separate pieces. You may wondering why we do that, since it makes more work for us. The reasons are threefold. One, keeping the parts separate allows to get a clearer and more detailed scan than it would if the model was assembled, as there are fewer parts obscuring each other from the camera. Two, and tied to the first, the Wargames Resurrectionist project is about creating a digital archive of miniatures from the past, not just making them available again. Since these figures were originally sold in multiple parts, it seems appropriate to archive them that way. Three, in cases like the GothRats, where we own the rights to the miniatures instead of holding a license, it gives us further options down the road. In this case, we could turn this old miniature into a multi-option kit by simply sculpting a new weapon, for example. This gives gamers new options on how to use the miniatures we sell, and adds some additional versatility to old sculpts.

Tune in next week for more ratty news!
