Miniature Monday - Clawfully Big Rats

With the resurrection of Trinity: Battleground complete and the files available for purchase, it's time to start a new project. This time, it's the resurrection of the complete Goth Rats miniature line. These models were originally sculpted for the Shock Force wargame, which DemonBlade Games released in 1998. A second edition followed in 2000, and is still available through Wargame Vault. After DemonBlade closed down, most of their miniatures were acquired by Mega Miniatures, who kept them in production for a number of years before eventually winding down their operations. Some of the Goth Rats stayed with Mega Miniatures while others were later acquired by Lone Gunman Games. Now the brood is finally back together, as Faceless Publishing has acquired rights to the whole line. In fact, this includes a pair of miniatures which were never widely released, and which we will be making available to gamers everywhere for the first time.

Although we don't own the rights to the Shock Force game, we will soon be rereleasing the Red Shirt Games line of skirmish games, which include rules for fielding a whole team of rats in the sci-fi arenas of Injurius Games. The Ratz (as Injurius Games calls them) are individually weak but numerous, and armed with weapons that can be nearly as dangerous to their wielder as the enemy. A scan of one of the Ratz is included below, though it hasn't gone through a digital cleanup yet.

Originally released as a Broken Claw Skulker for Shock Force, in Injurius Games Klaw is one of the Ratz' leaders. He carries an Electro Klaw which gives him his name, as well as a three-barreled Triple Threat Flamer which can unleash tremendous amounts of heat over a wide area. Unfortunately, the weapon also has a tendency to burn through its fuel too quickly, leaving Klaw with an empty weapon right when he needs it most. At least it doesn't explode, like some other Ratz weapons are known to.

Follow along with us in future Miniature Mondays as we continue to work on the Ratz.
