Miniature Monday - Denshea Rocks and Rolls

Welcome back to another Miniature Monday, and another model reveal for our resurrection of the Trinity: Battleground wargame. This time, we're revealing a new Aberrant, the chitinous Denshea.

Denshea was originally released as a metal miniature in a blister pack alongside Slint, and is a good example of why creating an archive for miniatures is so important. Besides his unique, almost crustacean appearance, it's difficult to find an intact example of Denshea. His thin, widely spread arms had a tendency to snap, sometimes even while still in the blister pack, and were thin enough to make repairs difficult. Even collectors who managed to find a model with both arms attached had to be careful not to accidentally break one off during transport or play. With the advent of .STL files and 3d printing, models that are damaged beyond repair can be replaced without a difficult and potentially costly search.

As for Denshea's game stats, he took on the role of battlefield controller and living artillery piece. He preferred to stay back from the frontline and use his Quicksand power to snare his enemies, bogging them down and requiring them to spend a hefty number of action points to escape. If he came under fire, he could conjure Mist to provide himself with soft cover, no matter where he was, and his Sense Psi power made it harder for enemy Psions to use their powers on him. He was protected by a sturdy Carapace but his most impressive mutation was his ability to Hurl Earth. Using a combination of raw strength and magnetic forces, he could hurl massive rocks at enemies, dealing tremendous damage to anything under a 5-inch template, the second-largest area of effect in the game. His powerful abilities came at a high point cost, especially for a 2nd Caste Aberrant, but his impact on the battlefield made him more than worth it.

Make sure to stop by next week, as we explore some other elements of bringing  a tabletop miniatures game back to life.
