Miniature Monday - Somers Brings a Little Friend
Miniature Monday is here again, and this week we are introducing another Psion, as well as sharing an update on the project in general. More on that later, but now it's time to meet Somers.
Like the other members of Strike Team Anvil, Somers was released as both a resin miniature in the Trinity: Battlegrounds box set and a metal miniature in a blister pack with two other models. She was a Tier 2 Psion, like her comrade Williams, with a range of useful powers. Flight let her move around the battlefield unhindered by terrain, while Tow threw off enemies' aim and Force Barrier deflected ranged attacks while negating melee attacks entirely. However, Somers wasn't the second most expensive Psion in the box because of her powers. Rather, she believed that the simplest and best solution to most problems was a big gun. Her gun of choice was the L-K Junior Light Coilgun, which was "light" in name only. This heavy weapon had a massive range and dealt catastrophic damage to anything under its huge template whenever it fired. The gun and support armature attached to it were so big they even provided its wielder with an armour bonus. A simple Armor Vest backed up the armour from her weapon and her defensive Psi Powers, and she carried a Stim-Pak to gain additional actions in an emergency. Her choice of skills further showed her focus on big guns, with Heavy Weapons making her attacks more accurate and reducing their deviation distance, while Trick Shot helped her pick out targets in cover by reducing their defence bonus. Practice hauling around such a heavy weapon also made her into a Pack Horse, which meant she could carry more equipment than her peers.
Although Somers did not have some of the flashy powers of her comrades, she made up for it with solid defences, surprising mobility, and devastating firepower. No Aberrant survived in her sights for long, and we look forward to seeing her scouring the battlefield again soon.
That brings us to the project update we mentioned earlier. Although we were optimistic that the re-release of Trinity: Battlegrounds would be this year, compounding delays throughout the project lifecycle mean we need to push our timeline back to early 2025. We are dedicated to bringing the highest-quality, most complete version of the game we can to our customers, and unfortunately that means it will take a little longer than expected. We appreciate your patience, and hope you are as excited as we are to get the game into your hands next year!
