Miniature Monday - Mastering Materials

Welcome back to another Miniature Monday! Today's article is another status update about our 3d printing tests, and how far we've come in configuring our miniatures for filament printing. Over the past week we've been refining our files using a new technique that applies resin-style supports to filament printing. We've also switched to the more detailed 0.2mm nozzle on our printer, now that our files are closer to being finalized. This has led to a significant reduction in the support scarring of our final prints, and therefore the detail shown on the finished models. To show an example, here are test prints of the same models we will be giving away at the Cangames convention in May. In each photo, the miniature on the left is an original metal figure that's been given a wash, as shown in one of our earlier posts. Next to that is a resin print of the same miniature, with the latest plastic filament print on the right side.

We are happy to report that the plastic prints have the same level of detail as the earlier resin ones, and possibly even better. There were a few minor issues, but those and the size discrepancy will be corrected as we finalize our print files. We can't wait for people to get these figures in hand in May!

After this week we will be taking a break from printing updates, and switch back to showing off other aspects of the game and our preparations for its resurrection. Stay tuned!
