Miniature Monday - CanGames 2026 After-Action Report

After a week to recover from convention busyness, we're back with another Miniature Monday! This week we're taking a break from showing off Goth Rats to focus on our recent adventures at CanGames.

Running since 1977, CanGames is a beloved gaming tradition in Canada's capital, and one we're delighted to participate in every year. This year's convention was an especially exciting one for us, as it was our first convention after both the resurrection of Trinity: Battleground and the return of Red Shirt Games. Our small table was busy but cramped as we showed off our new products while also running demos of Trinity: Battleground to interested gamers.

And interest there was! We had demos running or people stopping by to ask questions almost continuously, and we saw plenty of exciting battles. Even with only a few miniatures on each side, and players just learning the rules, every game played out differently. It was a perfect display of the flexibility and fun of Trinity: Battleground. One player even told us that he had two copies of the game at home from its original relase, but that he'd never played it before. We were happy to teach him the rules and sell him a Thune Support Unit to fill a gap in his collection.

About the only time we weren't running Trinity: Battleground demos or talking about it with visitors was when we ran an Injurius Games match, which saw two players plus our booth manager duke it out in a no-holds-barred slugfest on a table put together by one of the game's original creators. One player had so much fun, they immediately walked over to the Faceless Publishing table and bought one of each of the Injurius Games rulebooks and miniature packs we had in stock! Talk about making a good first impression!

Overall it was a great convention, and we're already looking forward to next year. Hopefully you'll be able to stop by and meet us in person at next year's con, if you're in Ottawa during the Victoria Day long weekend in 2027.

In other news related to Red Shirt Games, bundles for each game have now been uploaded to the Faceless Publishing web store, allowing you to get all the rulebooks at a significant discount.

Also, if you liked the look of the 3D printed trees we added to our Trinity: Battleground demo tables, you can get the files to print your own for free from a creator named GrimGreeble.

Next week, we'll be back to our regular, rat-infested schedule.
