Miniature Monday - Another Rat With a Blade

It's Miniature Monday again, and that means it's time for another Goth Rat reveal. This rat is armed very similarly to the Broken Claw Skulker we showed off a few weeks ago. This one, however, is a Twitching Tail Skulker like the Grenadier. Why did these two similarly armed rats come in different blisters with different names? It's unclear. Perhaps they had a falling-out, or maybe the Goth Rats had a "one scimitar-wielding rodent per squad" rule. More likely, it comes down to how armies were created in Shock Force. Shock Force had rules for creating custom characters and giving extra weapons or abilities to pre-generated models, so the individual equipment in a unit could vary quite a bit. Additionally, many of the weapon profiles in Shock Force were fairly generic, such as "Scrounged Firearm," so the sculptors had freedom to arm models with all kinds of weapons.

This rat clearly took advantage of all the scrounging he could, with what looks like a Kalashnikov of some description and a brutally barbed hooked sword. He's also managed to find a shoulder pad somewhere, which makes him a little more intimidating even if it doesn't offer much protection. You'll notice that his weapons look a little worse for wear, as they are both bent unlike in the original release image. Since all of the models we have possess the same bends, we believe it is the result of an issue with the molds after many runs. Now that we've successfully scanned the miniature, we can see about fixing the issue without worrying about potential damage. Such are the struggles of working with models that are over 25 years old!
We'll see you next week, when we reveal another Goth Rat.
